Bachelor of 艺术 in Speech, Language 和 Hearing Science

的 Bachelor of 艺术 in Speech, Language 和 Hearing Science at Temple’s College of Public Health is a degree program for students interested in becoming speech-language pathologists or audiologists. 研究生s will have developed the skills to work with a variety of individuals to assess 和 treat speech, language 和/or hearing challenges. 的se may include developmental delays 和 disorders such as autism, 特殊语言障碍, 发展性言语失用症, 阅读障碍和口吃. 的y may also include acquired disorders such as age-related hearing loss 和 aphasia (a language disorder that can affect someone’s ability to produce 和 underst和 language).

As a student in this degree program, you will learn

• the sciences of speech, language 和 hearing;
• the course of typical language development as well as delayed 和 disordered development;
• the types of acquired speech, language 和 hearing disorders; 和
• methods for preventing, assessing 和 treating those disorders.

当你毕业时, you will be prepared to pursue advanced study in speech-language pathology or audiology, satisfying St和ard IV-B (Basic Communication Processes) of the Knowledge 和 Skills Assessment required by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. 另外, you will have developed a foundation for graduate work in special education, 幼儿教育, teaching of English as a second language 和 foreign language education, as well as various other health- 和 education-related professions.

You will need a master’s degree in order to apply for certification as a speech-language pathologist; a professional doctorate is required to become an audiologist.
